Conveyors for Asphalt Roofing Material Production
Moving You to Greater Productivity with High-Value Conveying Systems
- All New Designs
- New and Replacement Systems
- Reliable and Extremely Durable
- Attractive Pricing
Reichel & Drews’ design engineers have completely redesigned our entire line of conveyor offerings to require less maintenance and fewer parts. The result is the most reliable, productive, easy to maintain and highest value conveying equipment available in the roofing industry.
When you choose Reichel & Drews to supply new or replacement conveyors you are choosing experts at moving shingles.
These conveyors are priced to compete with any conveyor supplier. You are assured a design that works and lasts in a roofing material manufacturing environment. They are easy to maintain and can all be adjusted on the fly. The bottom line is more uptime and higher profitability.
Overhead Belt Conveyor
- Two upper belts and two lower belts carry shingles from a diverter to four catchers. This allows the stacking of twice as many shingles compared to previous designs.
- “V” tracked flat belts run on UHMWPE slider beds for support and tracking.
- Variable frequency motors allow fine-tuning of speed to catchers. This means belt speeds can be changed quickly and easily to accommodate different products. Belt speed recipes can be pre-programmed and saved.
- The belt on the return tray is mounted or “tucked” up under the tray for safety.
- Side guides are mounted independent of the tray to prevent granules from collecting. To extend wear life, the side guides are adjustable (up/down and in/out) which means the entire face of the side guide can be used before it must be replaced.
- Take-up can be adjusted by the operator from outside the OSHA-approved guarding for optimal safety.

Drop Conveyor
- Durable and reliable tubular frame for extended service life.
- “V” tracked flat belts run on paired channels for support and tracking. This design allows granules to drop out which reduces component wear, decreases maintenance time for clean-up.
- The drive is direct coupled so there are no belts or sprockets and the drive is located in the center of the conveyor structure so that belts can be run successfully in either direction.
- A vector drive starts and stops the conveyor eliminating the need for a clutch.
- Belt tension is easily and safely adjusted from outside the machine and can be done while the conveyor is running.

Timing Conveyor
- Durable and reliable tubular frame for extended service life.
- Rollers replace drag plates that ensures bundle advancement.
- AR400 plate is standard for the pop-up table for long wear and proper friction.
- Belt-type transfer from the timing to the Hi-Lug conveyor ensures consistent acceleration and delivery.
- Chain tension is easily and safely adjusted from outside the frame while the conveyor is running.

Hi-Lug Conveyor
- Modular design. Modular pricing. There are prices established for the head and tail, entry and exit and a per foot price.
- Pusher lugs feature easily replaceable CRODON® Hard Coat faces and bushed attachment holes with larger attachment bolts for easy change.
- Durable and reliable tubular frame for extended service life.
- Longer chain life because chain size has been increased – fewer links to wear and larger attachment lugs and attachment holes. Chain is fully supported on the entire length of the return to reduce chain stretch and eliminates the need for a large sprocket between lugs.
- Slide plates at the entry point are ceramic for consistent and proper friction during the transition from a stationary position to speed from the pusher lug.
- Material for the return track is ultra high molecular weight plastic on which the chain will slide easily. UHMWP is also easy and fast to change.
- The rear take-up features an Electro-Cam which times the bundles coming from the timing conveyor onto the hi-lug conveyor. The Electro-Cam is mounted on the take-up slide plate to make plate adjustments easier and more accurate from one location. This replaces the GEMCO switch which was difficult to adjust.
- Slide plates between the entry and exit positions are CRODON Hard Coat for long service life. Designed so that the plates can easily be adjusted to provide a trough effect to keep the bundles centered on the conveyor.

Moving ahead on productivity with replacement conveyors
Consider the combination of increased uptime, reduced parts costs and lower maintenance costs for your plant when you replace aging conveyors. The new conveyor designs from Reichel & Drews are highly modular making retrofits fast and affordable.
